Wonderfelle is (sadly) back from vacay! With plenty of time on the plane/ in the sun, I’ve scoured all the usual fashion mags and started digging further online for items to share with you. I’m super excited about fall fashion, I almost want it to be cold already (but not quite).  Speaking of cold, it unfortunately got quite chilly at night on the beach this past week. The first night we went out for dinner at a waterfront bistro and I had to break out the pants (something I’m not a fan of). But as far as pants go, American Apparel leggings are definitely a travel staple since they are incredibly comfy and therefore great to wear on planes. This particular night I happened to rock their Shiny Legging in Boa Black, a neon pink tunic, and accessorized with a fabulous statement ring (pictured) I picked up earlier this summer at my friend’s store Prima Donna in NYC. On a related note, you may have noticed striking snakewear as a trend for fall.

bulgari

September’s Marie Claire has a spread on getting “seduced by snakewear” while Elle’s fall fashion issue features Bulgari’s 125th anniversary collection of iconic sexy serpents. There’s something inherently dark and edgy about snakewear and when done right, it can be quite alluring. Check out the following ways you can channel your inner House of Slytherin (I’m especially fond of Roberto Cavalli’s snake inspired designs):

snakes

Kenneth Jay Lane Bracelet ($150) / Kelly Killoren Bensimon Crystal Double Head Snake Ring ($88) / Roberto Cavalli Red Snake with Gradient Smoke Lens ($358) / Roberto Cavalli Peep-toe Pumps ($680) / Jimmy Choo Yellow Leather Sky Bag ($748) / Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth & James Snake Pendant ($195) / Roberto Cavalli Enamel and Swarovski Crystal Snake Coil Watch ($798) / Guiseppe Zanotti Snake Sandals ($320)

In case I haven’t already mentioned it too many times, I’m headed on a much needed vacation this week. Therefore Sunday afternoon was filled with a law and order marathon, several loads of laundry and making packing lists for my boyfriend (whose list mainly consists of all the seersucker, madras, and brooks brothers pastels he owns) and myself. Now my packing lists aren’t just “5 shirts, 2 pairs of jeans, 3 swimsuits…” I admit I have more than a bit of anxiety when it comes to packing because I tend to envision complete outfits and accessories and where I’m going to wear them – and when I don’t know exactly what I’m going to be doing on a trip, it’s hard to pack. Thus, its not a surprise I generally overpack, just so I’m sure to be prepared for everything from an impromptu hiking excursion (or not) to an unexpected invitation to a cocktail reception.

On that note, I recently came across polyvore, which is an addicting way to mix and match things you find online to create outfits –apparently, also known as the new way that 14yr old girls can “cut out” the things they like from fashion magazines (websites) and make collages (“sets”). I’m assuming you’re not particularly interested in what outfits I’m packing for vacation, so instead I’m sharing some outfits I created based on the themes from my previous posts…

A week from today I’ll be relaxing on a boat, working on my tan, and probably perusing Lucky for things so wonderfelle that I will have to later find online – and of course share with you! In search of the perfect new swim cover-up (which I have yet to find), I got sidetracked by a random Clueless quote – this happens often – from the wedding scene where Dionne talks about how her bridesmaids are going to wear sailor hats, with veils… Consequently, I went in search of things sailor inspired and came across the following sites with great selections of nautical deals.

3sailor_dressesMissguided

I found the mecca of adorable sailor inspired dresses here. With just the right number of gold buttons and contrast detailing, they are perfect for any summer morning/afternoon/evening activity. Plus, they are all priced under $50 USD!

REVOLVEclothing

With the wind blowing at night, it usually gets a little cooler on the water. Keep warm with some of these great separates I found at REVOLVE. They’re all on sale to make room for all the Fall clothing coming our way, but there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy these nautical staples.

Tell me about it, stud

Justin Timberlake, new king of pop? I may be biased (he’s from my home town and we had the same voice teacher growing up), but I’m still undecided. However, I do think William Rast’s Fall 2009 collection is fit for pop royalty. I’m not usually into things that are studded… I think its because they usually remind me of ugly things suburban kids bought at Hot Topic in middle school (ewww). With that said, I’m kinda digging the all-American rocker chic vibe of this line with a number of great studded leather jackets. Here are some of my other (stylish, of course) studded finds of the day:

bagCecilia Studded Satchel ($1,475)

This purple Italian leather bag with quilted topstitching, goldtone hardware and stud detail is edgy chic while still characterizing Marc Jacob’s classic style. It’s also the perfect size for an everyday bag.

977523_fpxVix “Jett” Studded Two-piece Swimsuit ($60)

I’m not surprised my favorite swimwear line included this example of studs done right. The bronze-toned studded trim is a delicate contrast to the girlie ruffle on this white low-rise bikini. I’m “jetting” off to the beach myself next week, maybe this is just what I need…

dressNanette Lepore Helen of Troy Studded Dress ($210)

100% silk is 100% fabulous in the form of this black Nanette Lepore creation with an allover stud design. Pair it with a cardigan and kitten heels for work, then trade them for bronze bangles and platform peep-toes for an easy day-to-night transition.

shoeDolce Vita Nala Stud Bead Flat ($68)

I’m of the school of belief that ballet flats were invented so city-dwellers have something prettier to wear while walking to work than the same shoes they wear to the gym. Running shoes are not walking shoes. These square-toed metallic ballet flats with faced gems are a comfortable yet stylish option for those of us who don’t spend much time in a car.

There’s something intriguing about a half-way undone zipper – perhaps the way its teeth seem to seductively spread apart or the anticipation of what might be revealed. While searching for the perfect birthday present for a woman whose jewelry taste is more “interesting and crafty,” I came across Kate Cusack’s zipper jewelry. This costume designer also creates some stunning pieces of wearable art like the hand-sewn necklace above. Her work can be found on display in places like the Julie: Artisans’s Gallery in New York or the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. (Or find her on Etsy here!) Buttons are boring, check out these zippers.

cruisedressCruise Line Shift Dress in Navy ($46)

Shiny gold zippers detail the neckline and hem revealing slivers of contrasting white on this adorable navy dress. Throw it on with these nautical inspired wedges.

RODITA!LOU-6436_dChristian Louboutin Rodita ($895)

This hot pink leather strappy sandal was designed by Christian Louboutin exclusively for Footcandy. With a 4 ¾” heel and 1 inch platform, it would be impossible to not be noticed in these shoes. If you need another excuse, 100% of the proceeds go towards raising money for the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation which helps create safe environments for abused elephants.

lim dress3.1 Phillip Lim Zipper Dress ($313)

Zippers are the new ruffle on this striking black short sleeved shift with goldtone zipper detail. 100% silk with sheer trim, this dress is thoughtful and effortless at the same time (because Phillip Lim is a genius, obviously.)

bag

J.J. Winters – Women’s Black Leather Zipper Purse ($445)

Vanessa Hudgens has this bag AND Zac Effron… you could say I’m a little jealous. It’s big enough to carry the umbrella I never need (even though weather.com says its 100% going to rain) along with a change of shoes and a snack (because I like to be prepared). Seriously though, it’s a great bag, right?

Shake your tail feathers

I stumbled upon this incredible wedding dress featured at a dress expo held in Nanjing, China earlier this year. While it may not be my dream wedding dress, it’s certainly a noteworthy piece of design work.  It took eight handicraftsman, two months and 2,009 peacock feathers to create this. In search of more wearable pieces inspired by peacock feathers, I found the following items:

Black Peacock Feathers Cocktail Gown Corset Bustier ($298)

Another hand-made piece, but this strapless dress is considerably more affordable than the previous dress. Dubbed “Raging Raven” by its creator, this dramatic full-skirted cocktail dress is made of shiny black crepe back satin. The bustier is asymmetrically adorned with black feathers, iridescent beading through out and 3 peacock feathers in the center.

Metallic Peacock Cuff Bracelet ($5.80)

If you haven’t noticed I’m a big fan of a good statement bracelet. In this case, I’m a big fan of the price tag as well. A metallic peacock feather is painted on to a 1.7” wide smooth metal cuff. It comes in both silver and gold – I’m not quite sure which I like better, but really, why not get both?

Karina Grimaldi Strapless Silk Peacock Feather Jumpshorts ($185)

This 100% silk romper designed by Miami’s Karina Grimaldi makes me want to frolic in the sand. With an elasticized neckline and waist, the shape is short and sassy but comfortable at the same time. Peacock feathers dangling from the neckline add an interesting touch.

pedro2007826643_prod_zoom_front_v1_m56577569831712075_254x500Pedro Garcia Michelle Peep Toe Pumps with Feathers ($725)

These satin 3.74” heeled peep-toe pumps are beyond gorgeous. It’s no surprise since the Garcia family has been designing avant-garde shoes in Spain for 3 generations. A feathered overlay with frayed edges makes these heels a perfect example of the company’s “experimental luxury” design aesthetic.
