Etsy Find Friday: Jill Rosenwald Studio

I have quite a random assortment of  dishes in my kitchen – IKEA dishes from my college years, dishes acquired from my sister/former roommate after she got married, dishes purchased on whim because I’m a sucker for target sales… one day I’ll have real grown-up dishes (isn’t that what wedding registries are for anyway?), but for now I’d rather spend my money on dresses/shoes/weekends in NYC!

So when I came across Jill Rosenwald’s Etsy shop and I was surprised I had the urge to stock up on plates, bowls and caviar trays… caviar trays?! Why would I need one of those… because they’re pretty, that’s why!

Bee Bowl in Perla, various bowls in Exeter Link pattern including Ice Cream Bowls and Vases, this fabulous Appetizer Plate in Opium Fever, Mini Cup in Outfit Cool

These hand-painted pieces are such gems don’t you think? The colors are completely delightful and I’d love to have even just a few pieces as decorative art to display in my apartment. You can read an interview with the artist here and find more of her work on her website!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Are you doing anything exciting? Going to Gold Cup? Watching the Derby? (confession: I’m actually terrified of horses!)

On Saturday I’m celebrating my half birthday (because I can!) and I’m hoping there will be funfetti involved :)

Destination Inspiration: Trina Turk Summer 2010

I came across the photos from the Trina Turk Summer 2010 lookbook last week when searching for more punchy prints to add to my wardrobe and thought they deserved their own post. The colors and designs have me longing for a poolside cabana and pomegranate margaritas (a la Rosa Mexicano of course)… 48. days. ’til. vacation.

Troubadour Dress, Kaleidoscope Pillow, Ida Dress (also love the Biscayne Long Dress in the same print!), Sea Floral Pillow

Butterfly Hook Rug, Paola Romper, Stefano Shirt, Rudi Pants, Higgins Pendant

Cora Strapless Dress (the shorts in the same print are so cute!), Hinged Cabochon Bracelet, Scala Top, Carena Shorts

Oh and I’m practically begging Z to get these awesome Plaid Jacquard Trousers… Mmmm

And clearly I need all new patio furniture too… covered in Trina Turk for Schumacher of course! The Peacock Print in Pool is my fave :)

Go for the Gold

Gold Cup is next weekend and I was tasked by friends E & K to find (non-Lilly) dresses that they could wear to the races but also throughout the spring/summer at weekend rooftop brunches on U St. or nights on the Georgetown waterfront. I love an excuse to play a little dress-up and fun, feminine frocks are my fave so I’m clearly up to the challenge!  Current forecast is 78 degrees and sunny for Great Meadow next weekend so these outfits should work perfectly…

Milly Sweetheart Strapless Dress (available in more sizes here),  Khaki Straw Stripe Sun Hat, Kate Spade Pearl and Bow Necklace, Folley Beach Makenzi Clutch, Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals

Helen Kaminsky Big Brenna Hat, Kate Spade Faceted Stone Necklace, Cole Haan Snake Clutch, Rebels Kiri Thong Sandal, Shoshanna Bustier Eyelet Sundress

Rebecca Taylor Very Versatile Dress (very much needs to be mine!), Scala Orchid Milan Floral Hat, Milly Camilla Teardrops Earrings and Ring, Coach Park Straw Clutch, DV Ontario Sandals

Add a cup full of Firefly Sweet Tea and you’re good to go!

Etsy Find Friday: Nadinoo for Spring

This isn’t the first time I’ve featured this dress from London based clothing label Nadinoo, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for a big bows and I’m loving the feminine playfulness of so many of Nadinoo’s pieces for spring…

If only I were tall and leggy, I would definitely rock the Pixie’s Silk Petal Blouse and Print Shorts – with nude heels of course! I purchased Kate Spade Glenda heels a couple weeks ago and they are sure to be spring/summer shoe staple.

Fleur’s Petal Dress might actually have to find its way into my closet… the print is super pretty close up and though it’s fairly mini on the model I think it would suit my 5ft frame pretty well. Plus I really really love pockets!

The retro silhouette is fairly simple on Pixie’s Candy Mini, but the subtle detailing of the round collar, self-tied bow, and pleating are just so sweet – though I’d love to pair it with more modern platform mary janes (OBSESSED with these – could Miu Miu just stop now please?! I need these and these and these... oh and these!)

Happy Weekend!

I’d like a quick weekend getaway to Jamaica right about now, including an evening at the Rockhouse Hotel

I’m completely enamored with the rock formations and cliff top views…

DAY Birger et Mikkelsen Dégradé silk-crepe dress, Isabel Marant Howlite-embellished Multistrand Necklace, Guiseppe Zanotti Stone Embellished Leather Sandals, Christian Louboutin Carillon Quilted Leather Clutch (which reminds me of the stones a little… only sparkly!)

Sighhh.

My Style Monday: Pretty Pretty Prints(cess)

Warmer weather always encourages me to break away from black ensembles and wear more color and right now I’m being drawn more and more toward bold prints… And if this New York Times article is accurate, then colorful consumption is the sign of economic upturn – so I’m just doing my part to stimulate the economy!

Liberty of London for Target, BCBG, Trina Turk, Yumi Kim, Akualani

I’m sort of obsessed with all of Yumi Kim’s spring prints – The Navy Rio print is my favorite (Goddess Dress pictured above), but I’d love to get my hands on the Lisa Top in Violet Juniper, Kasia Top in Multirose, Bella Dress in Aqua Rio, and Eva Dress in Monet’s Garden too. Yumi Kim just never fails at easy, breezy, comfy clothes! I wouldn’t hate it if these pretty printed pieces found their way into my closet either…

DVF Tabalah Silk-chiffon printed dress, Lightweight Geo-Floral Scarf, DVF Bariloche Shirtdress, Printed Satin Wrap Skirt, Feather Slip Skirt

Does springtime bring out the color in your closet?

Destination Inspiration: Banyan Tree Bangkok

I initially came across one of the Banyan Tree resorts on Jetsetter and proceeded to hotel stalk the resorts in locales ranging from Bahrain to Maldives… but when I came across this image from the Banyan Tree Bangkok it literally took my breath away…

Can you imagine dining (or hosting a soiree) with this view?? Approximately 61 floors above street level, the open-air lounge appropriately named Vertigo is unlike any other rooftop venue I’ve seen…

10 floors down, the Latitude Lounge view isn’t too bad either! And those chairs? Love, love, love.

Donna Karan Silk-chiffon Handkerchief Dress, Miu Miu Quilted Leather Bag, Giuseppe Zanotti Embellished Leather Sandals (GORGEOUS).

I don’t eat seafood, but Pier59 (on the 59th floor) is supposed to be like dining in an aquarium of sorts surrounded by bubble columns.

And more phenomenal views from Taihei, a Japanese sushi bar on the 53rd/54th floors – I don’t eat sushi either, but check out those bar stools – I love the continuation of lucite elements throughout the various lounges/restaurants.

Single Beaded Halterneck Top (love that color!), DVF Juntas Miniskirt, Jimmy Choo Leather Clutch, Chloe Wood and Canvas Wedges

But enough about the restaurants – the rooms are pretty awesome as well! I love the intricate sliding doors to the bedroom of this suite.

And you know how I feel about free-standing tubs…

Milly Tricolor Lace Dress, Chloe Paraty Medium Python Bag (which will be on my wish list foreverrr), YSL Hamptons Braided Sandals

Anyone else up for a trip to Thailand?
