I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend! There’s something about Memorial Day that seems to mark the official beginning of summer – probably the fact that it’s the weekend rooftop pools open in DC :) I’m ready for long nights, backyard barbecues and of course, vacation! Just 2 more weeks until I’m headed to the Philippines and I can’t wait…

But until then, there’s sale season to keep me busy! (not sure if that’s a good thing anymore…) It seems like every retailer is having a sale this weekend and I don’t know about you but I’m having a horrible time trying to resist ;) In an effort to talk myself out of buying things, I took a moment to assess my closet and it turns out – I could pretty much categorize the things I wear during the week into 2 outfits (or some combination of the 2):

Outfit 1:

Outfit 2:

Of course there are some variations but 5/6 days a week I’m probably in some iteration of these “uniforms” – sure I have other things in my closet, but when it comes to actually getting dressed these are the things that I reach for – these are the things that the most mileage and thus have the lowest cost/per wear – so it’s ok to buy more, right? So here’s a peek at a few things that are headed my way…

Patterned/Ruffled Dress, I usually look for dresses I can wear to work and on weekends, but this one is perfect for vacation, don’t you think?! (Yumi Kim Lolita Dress in Kyoto), Drapey Cardi-Blazer, 100% silk and light for summer (Claudia Jacket)

Use code YKSALE for 25% off at Yumi Kim

Use code X2Q4Tfor 30% the Claudia Jacket (in white!) at the W Hotel Store

Teteo Necklace in Rose, Shelter Island Ring (bought it in powder pink, but on sale for $10 I’m thinking other colors might be necessary…), Plated Pearl Cocktail Ring (originally $100, I got it for $10. Yes $10)

Use MEM10 for 50% off at Amrita Singh

Black Pumps with a Fun Heel (and bows!) – YSL Fatale Ribbon Pump

75% off at Posh on Main

Have you been sucked in to making any purchases this sale season? If so, what did you buy?!?

This is my obligatory Sex and the City post – because you know it’s on everyone’s mind this week… But I’m going to mostly ignore the movie and focus on this Moroccan resort because it is RIDICULOUSLY GORGEOUS. (did you know the movie was filmed in Morocco? I didn’t until someone found my blog searching this fabulous hotel I previously featured + Sex and the City (where SJP reportedly stayed while filming)… and then a google search led to this hotel where Kristen Davis and Kim Cattrall stayed)…

Amanjena. Oh hello gorgeous.

Just outside of Marrakesh, this gated paradise is Morocco’s “Moorish rose.” The 2-story maisons come complete with marble columns, domed ceilings, cozy fireplaces…

YSL New Arty Bracelet, Jimmy Choo Quinta Mirror Sandals, Mawi Indian Amulet Coin Drop Earrings, Halston Asymmetric Silk Minidress

private courtyards, heated pools, and more fireplaces

Nancy Gonzalez Classic Crocodile Clutch, Burberry Prorsum Twisted Multistrap Leather Sandals (want, want want!), Roberto Cavalli Large Sponge Coral Ring, Matthew Williamson Silk-Georgette Shift Dress

The restaurant is fit for a fairytale and the library is definitely the most fabulous I have seen in a hotel!

Roberto Cavalli Stone Embellished Snake Ring, Alexander McQueen Metallic Strappy Sandals, Marni Horn and Swarovski Earrings, 3.1 Phillip Lim Handmade Sequin Silk Dress (so pretty it makes me want to cry)

Let’s meet for drinks at the bar, k? I’ll be lounging in one of these lovely chairs in that Phillip Lim frock :)

shopping makes me feel better

I was sick for most of last week but am slowly starting to feel better… laying in bed has given me a lot of time to peruse the interwebs in search of things I don’t really need (and maybe some things that I do!) but I haven’t quite decided which category these gorgeous Mara Hoffman dresses fall into – I want them all!

Completely unrelated, I also really want a SodaStream Penguin Water Carbonator (I’m not even the biggest fan of sparkling water) but I hear the diet cola mix flavor tastes like fountain soda…. which is SO much better than canned soda. It just is. Too bad spending $200+ on a kitchen appliance is a foreign concept to me… I’d rather buy shoes. More specifically another one of the 40 styles of Bottega Veneta beauties that popped up on DSW the other day (yes another pair, because I already caved while writing this). I’m a sucker for basket weave and um hello they’re more than 80% off (using code SHOPMAY for additional 30%), really, how am I supposed to say no to that??

T-Strap Platforms, Suede Wedge Sandals, Clog Sandals (still can’t get on board with the whole clog trend… but these I can work with), Satin Rope Sandals

Shopping when you’re sick doesn’t really count, right?

Summer Lovin’

Thousands of people gathered on the mall this weekend for GW graduation – fun fact: First Lady Michelle Obama fulfilled her promise to be commencement speaker after students successfully completed her 100,000 hours of community service challenge – I feel like I missed out a little bit on the commotion of my own college graduation since I finished a semester early and started working and didn’t go back to walk in the ceremony at the end of the year.

Anyway, thinking about being in school again is weird but I sort of miss the excitement of the beginning of summer and the changes that came with it… Summer seems a little anticlimactic now, but at least I have a 2 week vacation in June to look forward to!

Can’t. Wait.

And of course summertime means new outfits, right?

Sunning: Kristense Sheer Dress with Slip, Cassis Scarf, Antik Batik Lucinda Mirror Sandals (an easy, breezy outfit perfect for picnics in the park, barbecues on the beach, general fun frolicking in the sun… I like alliteration)

Sightseeing: Yoana Barashchi Marrakesh Caftan, AK Cutoffs, Antik Batik Lucinda Mirror Bag, Aspiga Torsade Sandals (filed under: I need this entire outfit immediately)

Shopping: Calypso Rope Tunic, Monderat de Lucca Gladiator Tote, K. Jacques Annapyr Studded Sandals (Airy tunics are underrated. I want this one in every color…)

What are you looking forward to this summer?

Destination Inspiration: Portrait Suites

Perhaps partly due to LyddieGal‘s recent travels I had Italy on my mind this week and turned (yet again) to Mr. and Mrs. Smith for inspiration… I was thrilled to come across Portrait Suites – a boutique townhouse hotel situated above the flagship Ferragamo store in Rome. Design hotel + fashion photography in a simple but luxurious setting… you want to see pictures, right?

Not your typical hotel hallway… I’m dying to cover my walls in oversized black and white prints now!

Sass & Bide Embellished Tank Top, Jason Wu Pleat-knot Skirt (GORGEOUS), Marni Medium Suede Shoulder Bag, Valentino Bow-detail Satin Sandals

The rooms look “homey” and lived in but in a fabulous way – Ferragamo shoe prints on the walls, coffee tables covered in look books and fashion tomes, ipod docks and free WiFi (yayyy)…

3.1 Phillip Lim Pleated Printed Dress, Jimmy Choo Odette M Leather Tote, Bottega Veneta Raffia Wedge Sandals

I’d love to stay here if only to lounge on this rooftop by the fireplace… Makes my roof top look devastatingly pedestrian. Sighhh.

catching up…

Oops.

My recent lack of posting hasn’t been due to anything particularly exciting but can pretty much be blamed on 1) getting sucked into a Prison Break marathon (yes, I watched all four seasons in a week. which is sad. or impressive?) 2) exhaustion as a result of staying up to watch said marathon (also as a result of work, but that’s a given) 3) planning a Saturday shopping excursion in the suburbs (note: its a big freaking deal when I venture out to the suburbs… renting a car, getting lost, anxiety about crying children (there are no children where I live, only puppies)

Excuses, excuses… So I’m catching up on an overwhelming number of unread posts in my google reader and unanswered emails tonight but will be back in action with some destination inspiration tomorrow! While I’m rambling, a big thanks to Jamie of Glam Latte for the Beautiful Blogger Award!

I’m supposed to share some random facts about myself, so here ya go…

1) I work in a fairly conservative corporate office so my go-to shoe splurges are always black pumps since I know I’ll wear them all the time. I’m particularly attracted to ones with interesting heels. (photo: Burberry pumps, Miu Miu platforms – which are probably my most comfy heels!)

2) I’m a picky eater. No seafood (at all),  no meat (except chicken breast), few veggies, fewer condiments. I’m not a fan of anything tomato-based (including pizza sauce) and I don’t like dark chocolate.

3) My high school graduation was in a church – we wore antique lace wedding dresses and had flower girls – I thought this was completely normal. Oh the southern tradition…

4) Every morning I wake up to Don’t Stop Believin’ – the Glee version … it’s been my alarm tone since the first episode of Glee.

5) My boyfriend named my blog – he likes to take my name (Elle) and make it into adjectives like adorabelle, beautifelle, etc… wonderfelle just worked :)

Destination Inspiration: Puro Hotel

Perusing Design Hotels for new destination goodness, I came across the amazing Puro Hotel in Palma’s old town La Lonja (Mallorca, Spain). Literally a 14th-century town palace, the Puro Hotel is a mix of historic elegance and modern luxury…

From the cozy courtyard to the contemporary bar, this place is just made for lounging and soaking in the ambiance.

Tibi Samba Crepe de Chine Dress, Isabel Marant Stone Half-Hoop Earrings, DVF Opal Wedge Leather Sandals

I’m enamored by this suite… the modern stairwell, perfectly distressed wood floors and ethnic touches are an enchanting mix.

DVF Feather Trim T-Shirt Dress, Kenneth Jay Lane Gold Plated Resin Necklace, Fendi Braided Leather Chain Sandals

Oh hello gorgeous bedroom  – can you just imagine the sunlight streaming through the floor to ceiling windows! And the feathered lamps… love.

Over the past few months I’ve been so dedicated to amassing a fabulous cocktail ring collection that for the most part I’ve neglected perusing other types of jewelry. Until… this past weekend I was searching through my baubles for a bright necklace to pair with a black top but amidst a sea of pearls and mixed metal chains, I came up empty – and so the shopping ensues.

Sequin Starfish Necklace, Sparkling Sage Crushed Stone Bib Necklace (thanks to a heads up from Jessica, I scored the matching cocktail ring on Gilt!), Amrita Singh Teteo Necklace, Ezza Exclusive Garden Statement Necklace

Kendra Scott Maritza Necklace, Ezza Exclusive Cascading Teal Crystal Statement Necklace (such a great Etsy store for fun jewelry), Dannijo Sydney Necklace, Rachel Leigh Millie Necklace

On a completely unrelated note, I had the most delicious dinner at Westend Bistro by Eric Ripert with Z and his dad tonight… roast chicken, mac & cheese and a cookie plate – nothing like gourmet comfort cuisine to put me in food coma :)
