Wonderfelle Wedding: The Dress

Guess what?! (some of you may know already…)

I found THE DRESS!!!

Of course I’m not going to share the dress exactly, but I’m incredibly excited and can’t believe I have to wait 6 months to see it again! My sister and I went to a trunk show at Carine’s last weekend and I didn’t actually think I would find the one… but I did! It has all the things I ultimately decided where on my “need to have” list: a structured corset top,  a full/frothy skirt and a lot of sparkle. It’s modern, dramatic and most importantly, parent approved :)

(via Melissa Sweet, Monique Lhuillier- neither of these made the cut – just a tease!)

As much as I hate to admit it… I’m a princess bride. I just am. I can’t help it, so I’m embracing it. But I’m a modern princess bride – sweep train only, no tiara, no shiny satin.

It was really hard for me to picture our wedding day without knowing what I was going to wear… but now I feel like things are really falling into place and I can focus more on what our wedding day is going to look like! I love the idea of modern minimalism paired with overt glamour and set in a cosmopolitan hotel.

(inspiration via sleek Nambe bowls, Isharya amethyst jewels, fuchsia orchids, Prada pumps – my own, Barcelona chair, San Francisco city lights)

I’ve been too busy to really shop lately (how is that possible?)… but here are a few things on my radar this month!

Sequins, check. Miu Miu, check.  Miu Miu crossbody bag

I’m definitely craving bold beachwear (and a reason to wear it!) Mara Hoffman Chieftan Story Bandeau

How fun (and unexpected) are these resin rings! Trina Turk Resin Ball Rings in Coral and Fuchsia

Move over smoky eyes… sultry is in ;) Bobbi Brown Sultry Eye Palette

I love my Prescot flats in black, but this soft pink is perfect for spring! Tory Burch Prescot Flats

Z and I spent almost a whole day at Tysons Galleria with mission: wedding registry in mind… but since my idea of making dinner = making reservations, I was easily distracted by non-registry related browsing. I successfully avoided caving in at any of the shoes sales even though there were Lanvin flats for 40% off! Anyway, I got a chance to check out these Miu Miu beauties in real life and let me tell ya, the internet does not do them justice AT ALL …

That heel. It’s ridiculously sparkly in person (in a really, really good way) and they are a soft pinky-nude color – hello potential wedding shoes, please go on sale this summer…

If I don’t go for sparkly shoes, I’m definitely going brightly colored like these Fendi Deco Suede Pumps (love the bow!)

Or sparkly and brightly colored like these YSL Stingray-heel Tribute Sandals (which are appropriately my wedding colors)

But the holy grail of wedding shoes for me is probably…

Louboutin Very Riche 120mm

(too bad they’re $3,295…)

I’m kinda of ridiculously excited to plan our honeymoon… it’s a perfect excuse to spend more time luxury hotel stalking (and we all know I love that almost as much as I love shoe shopping)! Z and I haven’t decided where we want to go yet, but we’re thinking in the general vicinity of Asia/Pacific islands at this point. I’ve been religiously checking all my go-to travel sites and came across another Jetsetter sale for the Alila Villas Soori in Bali and remembered how much I love all the Alila resorts (remember the Alila Villas Uluwatu?) – well the Alila Villas Hadahaa in Maldives might be my new fave…

I mean, anywhere with beaches this beautiful is ok with me!

Honeymoon wishlist item #1: overwater bungalow

Plus each room comes with a spacious, open-air wood deck, an LCD flat panel TV and Wi-Fi (we aren’t really the type who can “unplug” even on vacation), and a mini-bar stocked according to your personal tastes…

This villa gets extra points for modern, minimalist design and soothing, neutral color palette…

And his and her sinks, of course.

Check out the full gallery here – and if any of you have been, let me know!!!

Hands down my favorite season is Resort and my favorite clothing designer is Diane von Furstenberg… so its no surprise I’m kind of obsessed with DVF Resort right now! When I think of resort, I think of easy, chic pieces – dresses that seamlessly transition from day to night, mix and match separates that you can throw in a suitcase for an impromptu trip, and accessories that make any outfit look just a little more fabulous. I’m loving this black + white color palette and all of the graphic prints, it’s so timelessly chic!

Brisa Wrap Dress, Pallavi Dress, Khali Dress, Trella Dress

Skylar Romper, Tiponi Top, Row Top, Syrahni Top

I’ll take one of all of the above, please. And some 75 degree weather to go with those shorts :)

RTW Bridal

It’s nearing the time where I really need to start searching for possibly the most important outfit of my life ever – my bridal outfit of course! I’ve looked at a ton of pictures online and in magazines but I’ve yet to actually try anything on in person so when I saw that a local bridal boutique was having a Monique Lhuillier trunk show in a couple weeks, I knew it was time to make an appointment!

I remember I was in middle school when Monique Lhuillier was just gaining recognition after her first bridal collection debuted in 1996 and my dad printed out an article for me to read from a Filipino newspaper that described her as this young, fresh Filipina designer who was going to be the next big thing in the wedding world. Ever since then I’ve had my eye on her as a potential wedding dress designer! I was on her website the other day perusing bridal dresses and ended up in the Ready to Wear section by accident – I want to LIVE in her 2011 Resort collection – seriously, it’s full of feminine frocks, structured separates, and gorgeous gowns that literally made my jaw drop!

A lot of her RTW dresses would be fabulous for non wedding dress, still wedding related outfits…

These would be perfect for a bridesmaid brunch, a rehearsal dinner or even a send-off dress!

A fashion-forward bridesmaid dress? Yes, please. I’d love to see it in soft pewter or eggplant with sparkly accessories and a killer shoe.

I LOVE this gown for a glamorous Mother of the Bride… perhaps in a royal purple or navy (though the red is really, really stunning!)

Ok, ok so these aren’t really appropriate for anything but they were too beautiful to leave out. The ocean blue ombre gown would be mine if I had a fabulous gala to attend (and an extra $10k to burn…). And the marigold would be refreshing on a red carpet, don’t ya think?

Happy New Year!

I know I’ve been MIA for quite a while but now that the holidays are over I’m hoping to update more frequently! I’m trying really hard to get over a killer cold/flu but here’s a quick update on what I’ve been up to…

  • After Thanksgiving, I spent a week in Puerto Vallarta with Z and his parents. We stayed in an amazing 3-story villa in Conchas Chinas overlooking Banderas Bay… (gorgeous right?!)

  • On our way back, we stopped through San Francisco to do some wedding planning – we met with the priest who is going to marry us and with our reception coordinator… and we also finalized our floral/event designer and our photographer. It feels good to have these big items out of the way, but there’s still so much to do!

  • I started a new job! I’m still in the same office on the same team, but after 3 years I’m taking on a new role. I know there’s more work ahead, but I’m excited for the possibilities!
  • I became an aunt! My sister and had the cutest little baby girl a few days before Christmas and I’m so proud to be auntie Elle and also a godparent.
  • And of course there were the holidays… unfortunately I’ve spent the last couple weeks feeling sick, but it was great to be able to spend time with my family when they were in town and to spend a quiet new years staying in with my fiance!

And here’s a little eye candy (all on sale!) to start the new year off on the right foot! (pun intended… ha)

DVF Irinia Sandals, Alia Whipsnake Ballerina Flats, Versace Platform Sandals

Happy New Year!
